Dental X-Ray

Owners take great care of their pets but rarely examine their mouths. It is estimated that over 70% of pets over 3years of age have some degree of dental disease (periodontal disease).
This figure is even higher in small breeds. It is advisable that your pets teeth are checked at least once a year at their annual health visit.

Pets need routine dental care, ideally feeding dry food, daily brushing(not all pets tolerate this), dental gels, water additives or dental sticks. Please ask one of our team for advise on dental products most suitable for your pet.

Even with the best care pets will require some dental treatment over their life. Treatments are carried out under general anesthesia where the teeth are scaled and polished. Extractions may be required and as a large part of the tooth is below the gum line it is necessary to do dental radiographs.

Dental radiographs are the gold standard and enable the vet to make the best decision for your pet.

If teeth are neglected, this may result in pain, infection and oral abscesses, which require urgent intervention.
